Pippi is fine now!

Dear friends of KAWS,

After four surgeries our Pippi finally got her new hip joint and has recovered very well.

Only after Pippi’s recovery did we realize just in how much pain she must have been. She is now a totally changed dog, happy to be alive, and we regret neither costs nor troubles! We were also surprised how fast she healed.

Firstly, we would like to thank KAWS for their moral and financial support (this is not common!) and we would adopt a dog from them again any time! We were not left alone!

And then, of course, many many thanks to all donors who donated money for the surgeries!

We have compiled a list of expenses. We did this also because so many people seem to complain about the token charge that they are asked to pay upon adopting a dog. And that even though the dog is fully vaccinated! It is not that token charge that is significant, it is the maintenance expenses. In our opinion: whoever is not willing to pay that token charge should not consider getting a dog, since, what will they do when something like this arises:

Expenses of first examinations:
Expenses for medication:
Expenses for lab:
Expenses for nuclear spin exam:
Expenses for femur head removal and sending of samples:
Medication:
Actual hip surgery:

Total:

288,79 €
19,73 €
102,94 €
651,13 €
461,46 €
42,73 €
2.552,91 €

4.119,69

We are happy to be able to post a little video of Pippi in order to show you how fine she is now; please click on film reel beside the photo above!

And again: many many thanks for your donations! You have helped us a great deal. We will not forget that and we are sure there will come a time when we will be able to help again.

Many greetings,

Birgit and Helmut Getsch
(with all quadrupeds – especially Pippi)
