The fact that we take care of animals abroad does not mean that every one of these animals can or should necessarily be re-homed in another country. Many times placing a dog in a new family can even be irresponsible because of change of behaviour in the dog due to, for example, maltreatment. Often leaving the dog in its country of origin is even recommended because temporary carers elsewhere have reached their limit of capacity. In either location it is difficult finding a home for animals that are fairly old, have chronic illnesses or are disabled and so every temporary carer has a group of permanent animal residents staying with him that also deserve a good live! And of course that means permanent expenses for food and vet bills.
For those of you who cannot or would not like to have an animal of her / his own, you can still do a lot of good by taking over sponsorship of one of those dogs in need, securing for this animal a safe future, veterinary care and a live worth living. Every cent helps!
