Government Obstruction Of Animal Adoptions
item1c
grmid1a

The situation of unnumbered animals in Southern Europe is awful. This is a fact that has been proven time and again. Unfortunately the idea of animal protection spreads only slowly in the countries concerned while at the same time locals are none too happy about foreigners publicly making accusations and offending national pride.
That’s how animal welfare organisations are often discriminated against and even obstructed in their work – sometimes even by the government. The most recent example for that is a declaration of the Deputy Minister of Rural Growth and Food from June 24, 2008, in which he refers to the re-homing of Greek animals to foreign countries. >
(Here you can find the Greek original .)

Before you get all confused by his declarations please read the press release of the Pan-Hellenic Animal Welfare Federation and the Coalition in Defence of Animals in Greece (CIDAG). >

The Kalamata Animal Welfare Society has always avoided pointing the finger. Our aim is to help as well as we possibly can. However, we do appreciate and support factual information.
