One of KAWS’ main activities is the re-homing of animals, but there are other things to do as well. The hedgehog on the left had an infection that needed treatment. Donkeys also needed our help. Some had been abused, others were just left on their own because they were no longer useful as workers. They were re-homed or medically treated. The young donkey below had fallen into a gorge and members of KAWS in cooperation with the Kalamata fire brigade organised his rescue.

The young scops-owl below was found weakened and on the ground. After she was given a good meal she was able to fly off again. The eagle owl was in a worse state than that as he had probably ingested poisoned meat. After a week of intensive care he could be released back into freedom. The falcon to their right needed special care. He was brought in unable to fly due to a broken wing. This bird was transferred to the Centre for Wild Animals and Birds in Aigina where people specialize in care for wild birds. And sometimes we are called to care for injured tortoises.
