Dear friends,

In April we had published a first appeal for help concerning our kennel in Kalamata. At the time about 70 dogs, some of them elderly or sick or unable to survive on the street on their own, were living in that kennel.

Originally, this kennel had been “outside” town, but now – due to the added building activities – there is an increasing number of neighbours who feel disturbed and have made complaints. In consequence and by court decision we will have to evacuate until June 23 2013.

Our plan: Kanela, a member of KAWS who had originally made the plot available, sells it and then buys another one and builds a small house for her to live in on the new one. Our organization would erect a new kennel right next to it. First priorities are fences and spacious kennels, shade, huts and so on. Small packs of four to five dogs would live in kennels of 70-100 sqm and a larger area would be accessible to all dogs.

It was not at all easy to find a suitable spot outside the city. But after a long quest we finally did find a piece of land. The plot was bought and thanks to your financial help we have already started putting up the fences.

We thank from the bottom of our hearts all donors, all friends and supporting organisations who helped us without hesitation and took in some of our dogs. Moving with been utterly impossible, especially since the new kennels are being built gradually and are not finished all at one time!

Needless to say, more donations will be needed. There is much more work to be done, trees to be planted, shade and rain shelter to be provided as well as huts and, and, and … Every donation helps and of course volunteers for the on site work are welcome at all times!
